Event: Interested in feedback on an idea of mine

Hey all,

I'm currently discussing an idea of mine with a few people and figured other Chronocentric members would have some valuable feedback.

In many ways, I think that when we buy and sell watches, pricing can (to a degree) be up in the air due to many factors that influence what makes a "competitive" ask price.

I'm interested in developing some sort of analytics framework that can look at historical sales figures for certain types of watches (dress, tool, etc.) with specific functions (calendar, various types of chronograph, etc.) in specific settings (auction, peer to peer, and retail). After aggregating the information, the program would display pricing trends based on sales setting in the hope of giving users some idea of what market price might be for their watch.

I by no means want to create an investment tool. I'm interested in giving people a pretty good estimate of what a specific watch might be worth today. That's why I'm quite hesitant to include any sort of extrapolative functionality; I don't wish to encourage further speculation on watches.

Use would be free and continued operation would ideally be funded by donations. I really wish to avoid advertising integration or anything else that might lead to a conflict of interest- obviously this would be of no use if people couldn't trust the pricing output.

If anybody has some thoughts, please let me know. It wouldn't be worth making this if nobody is interested. I'm also hoping to find some people who can help write the code.
