The Autavia Viceroy is one of the Heuer's iconic models of the 1970s. Here is your chance to own a great example of one that came out prior to the promotional partnership between Heuer and Viceroy. The primary differences with the Viceroy model is that there is no “V” after the 1163 reference number (between the lugs), a Calibre 11 movement (instead of Cal.12) and an earlier case number (cross-checked with reference from “On the Dash”). The large 42mm stainless steel case of the Autavia has its unmistakable cushion shape. The watch looks very solid on the wrist and is comfortable to wear due to the curved case shape. The chronograph pushers are fluted, the winding crown shows the Heuer logo. The motorsport background, sporty look, legendary movement and a beautiful condition make this Heuer Autavia the perfect vintage collector's watch.
Condition
The example offered here dates from 1971 and is in excellent and original condition. The matte black dial surface is free of any marks. The white sub-dials show the 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock and the hour totalizator at 9 o'clock. Both are beautifully preserved.
The case has never been refurbished and the dial & hands have all the original tritium. The case & case back shows some scratches from normal wear. The fine lug finish is perfectly intact.
Dial and hands are perfect. All the original tritium is fully intact. Creamy color. Subdials super white. All the lume dots at 3,6 and 9 present.
The bezel is in excellent condition with minor signs of wear.
A full service has just been completed by a highly experienced watchmaker (receipt available). All functions are in perfect and running order.
The watch comes mounted on a high quality & period correct, 5-row, beads of rice bracelet.
Serial number: 242.xxx (1971)

I am collector of Swiss sport chronographs from the 60's and 70's. I have conducted a number of transactions on this forum, Instagram and Ebay (both vintage.eye), both as buyer and seller.
