The price is 1,250 CHF (Swiss Francs). The watch is from an estate of a retired watchmaker who purchased them at Government auctions during the early 1980's after the Falklands when the MOD converted to using quartz watches. This style of watch replaced the Smith's W10 & was the last general purpose 'mechanical' watch ever issued to the military in the UK.

The movement is the 17 Jewel Hamilton Cal 649 (ETA 2750) - Around the early 1970's this was a new revolutionary type of Swiss made movement that required fewer parts than previous watch movements by using a second main plate rather than various bridges - tougher & more reliable with less components to go wrong & easier to service, it also allowed for a larger main-spring barrel with 50 hour capacity compared to the standard 24-36 hours.

Case-back markings explained: W10 indicates Army issue. 6645 Nato code for Timepiece. 99 country code for UK. Broad-arrow = M.O.D property, and the last set of numbers 14/ 73 are the serial number & year of issue.
