FS: FS: Omega Speedmaster Mark 40 Ref. 3520.53.00

ChronoScope Collector watches presents a late 1990s bold Omega Speedmaster Mark 40 in outstanding condition. This reasonably priced package offers an automatic chronograph, a triple calendar function and a day/night indicator making it probably the best value per complication for any Speedy out there. An easily recognizable timepiece, this speedy is the perfect point of entry into the realm of complicated chronographs. This watch is undoubtedly packed with extra dazzle and extra character, just like its next lucky owner!

Please read the condition report carefully to help you assess the overall condition of the watch.

MODEL / REFERENCE: Omega Speedmaster Mark 40 ref. 3520.53.00

DIAL+HANDS: The matte anthracite dial is in very good condition and really pleasing to look at. Combined with the black bezel, the color contrast brings forward a bit of a visual firework in keeping with the calibre’s layout: the chronograph hands are red, the 24h subdial at 9 o’clock is black and blue, the date indicator hand has a yellow tip and the hours/minutes hands are black with white tips. This colorful scheme makes it not only stand out, it also purposefully makes this busy dial easy to read.
From the text to the radial date disc, the printing on the dial is very crisp and well preserved.
The Arabic numerals are set with faded Tritium that appears to be intact and starts to take a cream/ yellow warm patina.
The lume coated hands are correct to the watch and the tritium lume shows a light hue of beige.

Bezel: the original aluminium bezel shows light signs of use / scratches. Please refer to the pictures.

CRYSTAL: Scratch resistant domed sapphire crystal with antireflective coating inside.

MOVEMENT: Under the caseback sits a 25 jewel self-winding Omega calibre 1151 with a 44-hour power reserve. The rhodiumplated ETA 7751 based movement has been decorated and upgraded to meet Omega’s specifications.
Featuring a total of 8 hands and 2 discs in total, this intricate calibre displays a Month and Day apertures at 12 o’clock, a 24hrs day/night indicator at 9 o’clock and a yellow tipped, quickset date pointer.
The cam switched chronograph has a hack feature. It uses a running small seconds at 9, a central red seconds hands and 2 recording subdials positioned respectively at 12 and 6 o’clock positions.
The movement has been fully serviced thus runs strongly and keeps accurate time.
All functions are in excellent working order: sets, winds, auto-winds, double quick set, and the chronograph starts, stops and resets crisply.

CASE: The stainless steel case is very well proportioned with 39mm in diameter and 45mm lug to lug. A very reminiscent design of the Huguenin frères ( HF ) or Central boîtes  Speedmaster thanks to its lyre lugs.
From the original satin tops and sides finish to the polished wide bevels in between, This watch has been well taken care of as the case is in overall excellent condition.
The right side is slightly beefed up to protect the crown and pushers during use, making it a bit asymmetrical and stays true to the profile of the Speedmaster professional’s case.
A small pusher button can be found at the upper side of the left lug to set the day of week.

CASEBACK: The pressure fit caseback is in very good condition. It preserves its factory finish ornate with well pronounced medallion at the center displaying the infamous Seahorse logo and “Speedmaster” text.
The inner caseback is stamped with the right Omega nomenclature for the period such as the case maker’s hallmark, and reference number.

CROWN + PUSHERS: The original crown is signed with the Omega logo at the center and functions as intended. The two chronograph pushers are original as well and operate flawlessly.

BRACELET: The watch is fitted with the original Omega steel bracelet in near mint condition.

 ACCESSORIES: Omega Service Case

The price is 3,980 CHF (Swiss Franc) or best reasonable offer plus shipping at actual cost. Low ball offers will be politely ignored.
