Nivada Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver broad arrow with Valjoux 92 movement.
MODEL / REFERENCE: Nivada Chronomaster Air Sea Diver – (CASD), Ref. 8222 M1581.
DIAL+HANDS: This Chronomaster rocks its original matte black dial that has aged to acquire a uniform bubbly texture, without compromising its aged white imprint. The dial has loads of details, but somehow comes off as clean. It features a peripheral tachymeter for measuring speed, a bi-compax layout with small seconds at nine, and a chronograph minute totalizer at three o'clock. This subdial could be used to count up to 30 minutes of elapsed time, or, with its purposeful red highlights, count down the last five minutes before an event, such as a regatta.
The painted baton indexes are not detached from the minute divisions. They have acquired a black, burnt-to-a-crisp patina that blends in with the dial.
The broad arrow and dauphine hands, with the spearhead subdial hands, have developed surface oxidation on the surface, as well as on the tritium inlays.
CASE: On the wrist, this CASD looks spot on and fits perfectly the modern wrist thanks to a nicely sized 38 mm stainless steel case that boasts 46 mm from lug to lug. The case is mostly brushed with sharp, polished bevels on the upper surface of the drilled, downturned lugs that seem to catch the surrounding light in a very appealing way. Overall, the case is still beautifully intact, with few small scratches and no nicks throughout. It shows signs of use consistent with the age of the watch.
The theme of multi-functionality was carried through the bidirectional rotating bezel, bearing the correct black insert that displays very minimal signs of wear and which featured not only a fully graduated 60-minute timing scale, but also a 12-hour scale to track a different time zones.
CASEBACK: The single step stainless steel screw-down case back is in impressive vintage condition, with very prominent engravings on the periphery of the satin brushed center. The “COMPENSAMATIC” engraving suggesting perhaps a previous swap of the original back. Besides the normal hairline surface marks, there is one noticeable scratch that spans across the center, resulting from a removal attempt at some point.
CRYSTAL: The domed haselite crystal, armed with a tension ring is correct to the watch. It is in excellent aesthetic condition, showing no scratches or marks on its surface.
CROWNS+PUSHERS: The crown is correct to the watch for bearing the brand's signature logo. It operates as intended from winding to time setting.
The pump pushers appear to be correct and work crisply: Starting, stopping and resetting the chronograph module. The top pusher appears to have some nicks and a crack around the cap.
MOVEMENT: This chronograph driven by the reliable, manually wound caliber Valjoux 92 as its heart. This high quality column-wheel movement features a constant running seconds register at 9 o'clock and a 30 minutes totalizer at 3 o'clock. It's also important to signal that the bridge is signed with the brand's name.
The movement is clean and has been recently serviced thus runs strongly and keeps accurate time. It winds, sets and the chronograph functions perfectly and resets flawlessly.
BRACELET: The present CASD chronograph comes fitted with a beautifully textured olive colored leather strap, with 20mm in width and a quick release function for easy change.
ACCESSORIES: Saffiano Leather watch roll.
WARRANTY: We guarantee the authenticity of the watch. We also provide a 12 months guarantee for the correct function of this vintage timepiece. All guarantees are subject to the General Terms and Conditions.
The price is 3,380 CHF Plus Shipping (Swiss Franc) or best reasonable offer plus shipping at actual cost. Low ball offers will be politely ignored.
