Rare Heuer Road Rally Chronograph circa 1950's Auto-Graph
Back in the glory days of road racing Heuer manufactured chronographs for Abercrombie and Fitch. The Auto-Graph was designed specifically for auto rallying. The additional hand is used to determine if the car is maintaining a desired pace. This chronograph runs on a modified Valjoux 72C movement. The button between 8:00 and 9:00 is used to move the extra hand with the blue pointer to the desired speed. Once the speed is set the driver or navigator can moinitor the speed over a measured distance to determine whether the car is on the correct pace.
This watch is in fantastic ORIGINAL condition. The original dial is virtually mint and signed MADE IN SWITZERLAND at the bottom. There is no fading or bleeding anywhere on the dial. Beautiful red numbers are set off by crisp tachymeter scale and bright blue numbers on the seconds scale. The gold markers are bright and the hands are bright gold as well. The watch is serviced and works perfectly with all functions operating correctly. The case has only light scratches and is signed Heuer.
This is the ultimate road rallying chronograph of the glory days of racing. Even if you are a serious Heuer collector chances are you have never seen one. To find one in this condition is a rare opportunity to vertically expand your collection. This watch makes a Monaco look commonplace. This watch will set you apart from the crowd at the race track or in the board room. This rare Heuer Auto-Graph is ready to go on your wrist.
As a bonus I will include the original Abercombie and Fitch catalog in which this watch was advertised. These catalog have become valuable in their own right.
