Dear All
For sale is this Longines 6B/159 RAF Pilots Wristwatch c.1942
These beautiful wristwatches were issued to RAF navigators and pilots during the Second World War.
The beautiful and all original Longines 6B/159 watch for sale was produced in 1942 at the heart of WW2. The watch would have been shipped to Arthur Baume, the Longines dealer in London prior to it being forwarded onto the RAF for active service. The last watch of its kind is recorded as being delivered to Baume in London on 31 May 1943.
Happily, the watch for sale comes complete with an extract from the Longines archives.
The watch is in lovely overall condition having been recently serviced by our highly skilled and experienced horologist.
The dial has aged beautifully with some minor staining and blemishes in places.
The beautiful blue steel hands and crown are correct to the original specification of the watch. The glass has numerous scratches and stress fractures.
The chromed alloy mid-case is in reasonable condition with some wear and tarnishing commensurate with age. The case back has all the usual RAF issue markings.
The beautiful 12.68N high-grade gilt movement is in good condition and is currently running well and keeping good time.
The watch diameter is 32mm.
