Rules: Postings must be an ad announcing an intent to sell, buy or trade. Full item description and photo(s) must be posted within the message here, not as links to other websites. Links to online auctions and other sites: Links to online auctions, dealer sites or other listings of items are permitted, but you should be careful to ensure that such listings will comply with our other ChronoTrader Policies. In addition, we request that sellers linking to online auctions or listings offer some benefit or accomodation to ChronoTrader readers (for example, some discount or an undertaking to end an auction early, to keep a watch "in the family"). Photos must be of the actual item for sale in its present condition. No counterfeit or replica products. No post for the same item may be repeated within 7 days, except to lower the asking price. Commercial dealers are limited to three unique posts per day. [More...]
I am offering for sale a stunning Seiko 7016-5011 chronograph aka “Seiko Monaco” (even though I do not find this nickname particularly appropriate), dated from January 1973. These models have become increasingly hard to find in all original condition without wrong or aftermarket parts. What makes them special and historically important (from a horological point of view) is the
great Seiko 7016A movement:
► An automatic column wheel chronograph calibre
► with flyback function
► that was introduced just two years after the launch of the first ever automatic chronograph and remained
► the world’s thinnest (6,4mm) automatic chrono movement with minute and hour counter until 1987/1988.
► Moreover, it offers a rare monocounter complication (i.e. minute and hour counter on one common subdial) that was eventually made popular by no less than Patek Philippe no earlier than in the mid-2000s.
Details:
► Case in excellent condition with only minor signs of wear and the original finish preserved (vertical brushing on the front and sides, polished bevels, only one noteworthy superficial scratch near the top pusher), original crown and pushers
► Original dial in the most versatile colour combination of black and blue, in immaculate condition and with all luminous material intact
► Original set of hands with intact luminous material and the chronograph seconds hand with a vibrant orange tip
► Clear and undamaged mineral crystal
► High-quality movement (see above), with the last service done around the turn of the year 2020/2021 (the watch has remained practically unworn ever since), it accordingly starts immediately and keeps time with a deviation of less than 5s/d (with the chronograph activated) ; day/date function and its quick-set work flawlessly (the date changes already at approximately 8:20 PM which can be easily corrected by having the hands reset)
► Day display in English and – a rarity! – Dutch (MA, TUE, WO, DO, VR, ZA, ZO), with Saturday in blue and Sunday in red
► Mounted on a beautifully matching racing leather strap
► To complement the watch's elegance, it comes in a practical, colour-coordinated travel case made of Saffiano leather
Dimensions:
► Diameter: 37mm without pushers
► Lug-to-lug: 40mm
► Height: approx. 12mm
► Lug width: 19mm
Price:
For this beautiful Seiko I am asking EUR 890,- plus international insured shipping according to destination.
And now for the pictures:
The watch is located in Austria (EU) and so am I. I do have plenty of international references from various watch enthusiasts (also known here), so please feel free to ask for them.
Just for the records: I am a private collector and, therefore, the watch comes without any personal guarantee given by me. However, I am offering to give a full refund less fully insured shipping expenses in case the piece sold would not be as described by me (within an inspection period of three days and to buyers from within the EU only due to the complex customs procedure in case of an overseas deal).
Thanks for reading and thanks to the Chronotrader platform and its host!
Kind regards,
F.Antl
