I am offering for sale this vintage gem from traditional and recently revived Swiss brand Nivada which, according to the Nivada museum, was produced from 1967 onwards and remains in very good overall condition (Glacier model, Ref. 67017). It’s from the Antarctic model series that became legendary due to its use in the South Pole expeditions of ‘Operation Deep Freeze’ (from 1955) and remains particularly popular with collectors and it comes with its original stainless steel bracelet.

► Tonneau-shaped stainless steel case with a sunburst finish on the front, a polished bevelled edge and polished sides; in good, unaltered condition (one noteworthy nick on the lower edge of the case a few millimetres above the crown, as well as a few tiny discolorations close to the edge of the crystal)
► Authentic case back featuring a beautiful penguin design and all embossed markings intact
► Silver sunburst dial with applied baton hour markers and all lume dots
► Original handset, also with fully intact lume
► Date at 3 o’clock
► Original non-screwed crown with Nivada logo
► Freshly polished acrylic crystal
► Swiss ETA 2472 automatic movement, starts and runs smoothly and keeps time with a deviation of approx. 10 seconds per day (measured laid down, service history unknown); the date mechanism works flawlessly
► Original stainless steel bracelet with a brushed upper surface and precisely fitting end links, as well as a brushed clasp featuring the brand logo; suitable for a wrist circumference of approx. 19cm (can be extended by one hole at the clasp by a watchmaker)
