Rules: Postings must be an ad announcing an intent to sell, buy or trade. Full item description and photo(s) must be posted within the message here, not as links to other websites. Links to online auctions and other sites: Links to online auctions, dealer sites or other listings of items are permitted, but you should be careful to ensure that such listings will comply with our other ChronoTrader Policies. In addition, we request that sellers linking to online auctions or listings offer some benefit or accomodation to ChronoTrader readers (for example, some discount or an undertaking to end an auction early, to keep a watch "in the family"). Photos must be of the actual item for sale in its present condition. No counterfeit or replica products. No post for the same item may be repeated within 7 days, except to lower the asking price. Commercial dealers are limited to three unique posts per day. [More...]
I am offering for sale this outstanding one-off and absolute rarity: A presumably unworn and consequently perfectly preserved vintage Citizen Jet from January 1963 with the somewhat clumsy name ‘Auto Dater Para Water’ and a sought-after peripheral ring-rotor (aka jet rotor) movement – ideal for fans of the 1960s, lovers of all things Japanese, vintage movement collectors as well as NOS hunters.
Details:
► Classic and beautifully slim all stainless steel case in a good size (cf. below) with elongated, straight and bevelled lugs; polished on the front and vertically brushed on the sides; in its original, unmolested condition (perfect edges, no damage, only superficial marks from more than 60 years of storage)
► Silver sunburst dial which has developed a warm, caramel-like patina radiating from the centre, with multi-faceted applied hour markers and fully preserved luminous dots positioned next to their inner end
► Original set of hands with perfectly preserved radium luminous material, which, just like the dots on the dial, continue to glow briefly after exposure to UV light
► Original non-screwed crown
► Caseback with all imprints perfectly legible, again only minimal storage marks on its high-polished surface
► High-dome acrylic crystal with an internal date magnifier, with minimal superficial scratches from storage and also some very fine internal stress cracks that are only visible when hit by the light at a very flat angle; however, readability is not impaired in any way
► Automatic movement with 21 jewels, featuring the highly sought-after peripheral rotor (also known as the ‘ring rotor’ or ‘jet rotor’) and a date display; starts and runs smoothly keeping time with a deviation of approx. 30 s/d and with a very strong power reserve of more than 45 h (measured laid down, service history unknown – but I assume there simply is none), the date changes at midnight as it should; as this is a Radium watch, I do not dare to open the caseback, but the ring rotor can be recognised by its characteristic sound (this is not the only watch of mine with such one), and all comparable examples found online are also fitted with it
► Original, solid and elegant-looking three-piece stainless steel bracelet with correct end links and a clasp bearing the brand logo (and ‘Citizen’ signature on the inside), suitable for wrists up to approx. 20 cm
► Comes with a practical black travel case made of Saffiano leather
Dimensions:
► Diameter: approx. 36 mm without the crown, 38.5 mm with the crown (the narrow case rim makes the watch appear even slightly larger on the wrist)
► Lug-to-lug: approx. 44 mm
► Height: approx. 10 mm
► Lug width: 18 mm
Price:
For this superb Citizen in exceptional condition I am asking EUR 530,- plus international insured shipping according to destination.
And now for the pictures (sorry for the spots of dirt close to the caseback notch, I only saw it after uploading the pics):
The watch is located in Austria (EU) and so am I. I do have plenty of international references from various watch enthusiasts (also known here), so please feel free to ask for them.
Just for the records: I am a private collector and, therefore, the watch comes without any personal guarantee given by me. Nevertheless, I am offering to give a full refund less fully insured shipping expenses in case the piece sold would not be as described by me (within an inspection period of three days and to buyers from within the EU only due to the complex customs procedure in case of an overseas deal).
Thanks for reading and thanks to the Chronotrader platform and its host!
Kind regards,
F.Antl
