"...Carrera Calibre 360 Rose Gold limited edition
Unveiled at Baselworld 2006 was the Carrera Calibre 360 Rose Gold, intended for privileged collectors seeking the most accurate mechanical timepiece ever made. It is a high-prestige version of 2005’s Calibre 360 Concept Chronograph, the first mechanical wrist chronograph to measure and display time to 1/100th of a second.
A luxury tribute to a racing legend...
As a tribute to TAG Heuer’s legendary Carrera series, its longstanding links to motor racing and peerless timekeeping heritage, the sober, easy-to-read details of this limited edition watch are inspired by TAG Heuer’s vintage stopwatches. They include the extra large start/stop push button, the enhanced fluted crown, the 100-minute power reserve at 12 o’clock, and the oversized 1/100th of a second counter at 6 o’clock.
Ten times faster than any other mechanical wristwatch movement...
The Calibre 360 is like a living organism endowed with two hearts - 2 sets of escapement mechanisms. Under normal conditions it cruises at the regular speed of 28,800 oscillations/hour, but in chronograph mode it accelerates to 360,000 oscillations/hour. To achieve this incredible precision requires over 230 components, a drastically lightened and miniaturized hairspring and escapement mechanism. Its development has produced no fewer than 3 exclusive worldwide patents:
1/100th of a second counter in a mechanical wrist chronograph
Bi-directional crown and rewind system. The single crown controls both movements, as well as the hour and date setting : turned clockwise, it rewinds the manual chronograph; turned counter-clockwise, it rewinds the automatic watch.
Transmission of the date from the bottom of the movement to the upper dial.
A special limited edition of 500 pieces.
The exceptional Calibre 360 movement is completed with the luxurious design, materials, and craftsmanship it deserves: an elegant chocolate-brown guilloché dial with hand-applied 18 carat rose gold hands and indexes; 18 carat rose gold watch case, and chocolate-brown, hand-sewn alligator strap. The sapphire crystal case back offers a glimpse of the oscillating weight specially engraved with the movement’s name and beautifully decorated with Côtes de Genève waves..."
