For sale is this outstanding 42 year-old Roamer Stingray Chrono, quite possibly the only one with this complete a set of original accessories still in existence.
The Stingray was launched in 1970 by Roamer, teaming with Björn Waldegård, the Swedish rally car champion. Waldegård won the 1969 and 1970 Auto Rally of Monte Carlo with his Porsche 911S, a model of which was included as an accessory with the watch. Roamer also produced advertising for the Stingray Chrono incorporating Waldegård and his Rally-winning Porsche (see photo).
The Roamer Stingray Chrono is a three-register chronograph, powered by the famous Valjoux 72 in its 726 configuration. This movement was serviced last year (receipt shown) and operates perfectly, including timekeeping of about 30 seconds fast per day with the chrono not operating. The Stingray utilizes a modular case with a separate body and bezel for water tightness (i.e., no removable back). The photo of the movement is actually from my other Stingray, from when it was overhauled last year.
The Stingray case is approximately 37mm x 43mm, excluding the signed Roamer crown. The bezel is brushed stainless steel with polished sides, in excellent condition. The back features an embossed stingray and Roamer logo. The rare original NSA folded steel bracelet is in superb condition with the Roamer logo on the buckle and enough links to fit an 8-inch + wrist.
The original dial and hands are in very good condition, showing uniform patina throughout. The original Plexiglas crystal is in good condition, with a few minor marks showing.
This superb vintage complete set is priced to sell at $2,475.00/£1,525.00/€1,925.00 plus insured shipping. No trades. I can accept bank wire transfers, money orders, bank checks, personal checks (10 days clearing), and Western Union; and PayPal on U.S. shipments with 50/50 split of the PP fees.
