As much as I love this one my collection is moving in another direction and its time to move this one along. Its a Wakmann Chronograph with the Lemania 1872 movement, and the same case and similar design as the Tissot Navigators and Heuer Autavia (among others, see below).
The unusual dial is completely original and in excellent condition, as are the hands. The movement was apparently serviced before I bought it, but I seriously doubt that, so I have had the movement completely overhauled. It is keeping excellent time with all chrono functions working perfectly. The case has a few knocks which you can see in the photos but this is in keeping with the watch. Personally, I rather see an unmolested case than one polished to within an inch of its life.
DETAILS:
Maker: Wakmann, ca. early 1970s
Movement: Lemania Cal. 1872, manual wind chronograph, 17 jewel, 21,600 bph, 48hr power reserve (I've monitored the current PR and its in excess of 40 hours)
Case Diameter: 42 mm
Case Height: 13 mm
Case length: 47.5 mm
Lug Width: 20 mm
Case material: Stainless steel w/- screw down back
Crown: Non screw down
Water Resistance: unknown (but likely to be approx 50m)
Anyone familiar with military chronos from this period, i.e. 70s & 80s, will recognise many of the elements deployed in this watch. The movement is possibly the most famous chronograph movement of all time, used most notably by Omega as the base movement for the Speedmaster. It was also used in one of the Lemania SWAFs and the non-military Tissot Navigator, both of which are extremely hard to find. It even has the Lemania case code on the inside of the case-back. The case itself is effectively the same as the 2446 Autavias and very nice (the same case as used in early and current Sinn models). Also from this era is the hatched crown.

OTHER WATCHES WITH THIS MOVEMENT:
- Tissot Navigator
- SwAF Tissot chrono
- SAAF Lemania chrono
- Omega Speedmaster Professional (Omega 861/1862, Lem. 187x)
- Breitling Navitimer & Cosmonaut (Lem. 187x)
- Sinn 903 H2 Limited Edition
MOVEMENT FAMILY:
The Lemania 1873 (Omega 1861) is the basic movement, i.e. a chronograph with second, minute and 12-hour counter with a standard finish. The 1872 is the same movement without the 12-hour counter, which I don't think was ever used by Omega, but was extremely reliable and widely used... particularly in military chronographs.
PRICE:
I'm looking for EUR 1,095 (paypal +fees, or Int'l bank transfer). Price includes shipping, insurance and tracking inside the EU, but happy to ship elsewhere. Please contact me for shipping outside the EU or alternate payment methods.
Cheers,
-flugzeit
