: For Sale -- Carrera 12 Dato, Reference 2547N, Black dial with
: White registers, one of the “grails” among the vintage Heuer
: chronographs. I purchased this watch from the original owner,
: who bought it new, around 1970. He wore it regularly for several
: years, and then put it away. The dial on this one almost perfect
: to my eye. These models often have some damage around the outer
: (date) track, but all 31 numbers are strong on this one. Lume
: dots are original. [I see two missing lume dots, one at 8
: o’clock and the left one at 12 o’clock.] I believe that the
: case has its original finish, and has not been polished; shows
: light wear, as you might expect on a watch that was worn for
: several years. serial number 119894 suggests that this one was
: from the first of three or four runs of the Carrera 12 Datos. I
: had the watch checked by The Master, who reported that
: everything is working properly. It is running very well, within
: two seconds over the last 14 hours. chronograph functions (start
: / stop / reset) are quick and crisp everything on the watch
: appears to be original – crown, pushers, dial, hands and
: chronograph needles will be sold on leather strap; currently on
: a brown one; I am happy to switch it to a black one. Price is
: $8,400, plus shipping and insurance (required). I find two of
: this model currently listed for sale on the internet, in the
: $9,000 to $10,000 range. Payment by bank wire or check; no
: PayPal These are among the rarest of the vintage Heuer
: chronographs, as we do well to see two or three of these per
: year. The dial on this one is exceptionally good; mechanical
: condition is excellent . . . you may not have another chance at
: such a nice Carrera 12 Dato.
: E-mail with any questions.
