FS: Heuer 980.027 Dual Time LCD Diver Two-Tone

This beautiful and some what rare all original Heuer diver comes with the original bracelet and signed movement.

Shares the same DNA as its sibling the Breitling Pluton and the Chronosport.
The Watch is the same size as the Heuer 980.006 and 844 etc...

This watch has been working flawlessly for me, the movement on these watches are highly desirable and are "extremely scarce, and extremely fragile" and usually sell for upwards of $300 for the movement alone. The watch is stainless steel with gold plating giving it a nice two-tone. The watch is fairy good condition without any serious dings or deep gouges, definitely a nice example . Crystal has two visible scratches, they don't bother me (crystal can be easily replaced by your watchmaker if it does). New Renata silver battery just installed.

Unfortunately, these dual time movements are extremely scarce, and extremely fragile, if online chatter is correct. I’ve read that ‘shorting’ the movement is easily done whilst simply changing the battery, and repair is pretty much impossible. I don’t wholly subscribe to this, I doubt ESA would have produced such a flawed movement, and if they had, I doubt that the likes of Heuer or Breitling would have installed them. In fact there are many ‘Y2′ powered watches still going strong. I would however, concede that repairs would be very tricky. As mentioned, other watchmakers used this movement, Breitling fitted it in their Navitimer 2300 / Jupiter models amongst others. So there is no shortage of collectors trying to find mint examples of these movements. - https://heuerville.wordpress.com/tag/heuer-dual-tim

This watch is perfect for someone wanting a unique early 80s heuer diver.

These Heuer LCD divers don't come up for sale as often, and if they do they are usually not in working condition

As this is a Vintage time piece it does not come with guarantees and sold as is. Even though this is a Diver watch its not recommended to dive in it, I'm listing it as none waterproof, The watch keeps good time but I have not timed it for accuracy. I tend to overstate the watch faults to protect myself in case of picky buyers. Normally the watch turns up better than expected of my description. I did my best to describe this amazing watch as best as I could, Feel free to ask for any details.

asking $975 or best reasonable offer
