Very Clean and presentable all original vintage Deep Dive Tag Heuer 980.023 Diver Watch

This beautiful diver watch has the classic black dial and bezel look. The watch is in great condition, definitely a very nice example; the case is great with just the usual minor scuffs no gouges, Crystal has one fine hairline scratch at 10 o’clock almost invisible in many angles. Bezel and Bezel insert are in excellent condition. The lume is all there and the hands have a darker patina than the dial this is common on these models (all original untouched).

I’m the second owner of this watch; I have purchased the watch directly from the gentleman who bought it new in 1989 or 1990. The watch spend most of its life stored in its box until a few years back when I purchased it. The first owner had it resized, wore it for several years then it became too small on his wrist, apparently he lost the additional links to have it resized back again so he just kept it in the box. I purchased it without the papers or the additional links as they were lost. When I got it I had the watch serviced & the battery replaced.

Original inner box/holder is made out of vinyl which is showing some age but still in good condition, as pictured the vinyl is crackled. I wear it slightly loose on my wrist with diver extensions open, my wrist is approx. 7.25in (18.5cm) and still has some room so should fit up to 7.75in (19.5cm) wrist with the diver extension on.

Keep in mind that not all the Heuer divers that come up for sale are in such condition.

This model was considered a top of the line tool watch by Tag Heuer, the catalog describing it as…

As this is a Vintage time piece it does not come with guarantees and sold as is. Even though this is a Diver watch its not recommended to dive in it, I'm listing it as none waterproof, A competent watchmakers needs to re-seal and pressure test prior to diving with this watch. The watch keeps good time but I have not timed it for accuracy. I tend to overstate the watch faults to protect myself in case of picky buyers. Normally the watch turns up better than expected of my description. I did my best to describe this amazing watch as best as I could, Feel free to ask for any details.
