Up for sale is a very rare Girard Perregaux Olympico Chronograph from 1968.
This piece was made to commemorate the 1968 Olympics in Mexico.
The watch contains a Excelsior Park EP40 073 movement and was branded GP.
The images don't do justice to the watch. Once on the wrist this watch is a class apart.
The case measures 41.5mm.
The watch case is in stainless steel with a few scratches and marks from use.
The dial has a lovely patina, lots of vintage charm on this dial. Most GP you will see around have aged dials and they all look fantastic.
The brown, mocha acrylic bezel is absolutely amazing against the khaki cream dial, with the red splashes on the subdials, and red chrono hand.
The watch has its original lume intact which has gone very dark with age, again which is consistent with most other GP olimpico you will.
The watch runs, but service history is unknown so I can not guarantee accuracy but the watch has kept time over a 24 hour period.
The chrono starts, and resets completely , however the sub dial hand at 6 o'clock sometimes needs the reset button to be pressed twice to return to zero. So I suggest it needs a clean or full service.
Please study the pictures carefully as best describe the conditions.
The watch is sold as seen.
Any questions please as me before committing to buy.
At this time I am open to reasonable offers.
