Avia 9Kt Gold Manual Chronograph 1958 Free shipping for Chronotrader
The name Avia is now known for making not great modern quartz watches or if you dig a little deeper you’ll find the name attached to Czechoslovakia where in post war times a company sprang up building fighter aircraft from leftover Luftwaffe parts then on to sports car and delivery trucks. The trucks still made to day… However this is not ‘that’ brand. This is the Swiss Avia known for good quality gold watches in the 50’s and classy Art Nuevo carriage clocks.
This particular model hails from the late 50’s and is a beauty having seemingly dodged the ravages of time. The case is a slight ‘rose gold’ in solid 9KT hallmarked. 30 minute register manual wind chronograph.
With its acrylic crystal and curved edges t could not be a better contender for ‘vintage dress chronograph’ if it tried… managing effortlessly.
The case is a respectable 37mm x 44mm x 12mm in size and boasts a venerable workhorse movement below the thoroughbred looks. The manual Landeron 48 sets at the top pusher, stop and reset at the bottom pusher.
It is a classy piece which wears just for the sole purpose of making you smile every time you wear it…. Embossed leather strap matches its look as does the Linen 60’s style box the watch comes in…
The watch has been serviced and carries a 3 month mechanical warranty. Due to their age and the original use of these watches there are minor marks to be found on the cases which add to their vintage look without detracting from the quality.
