Re: FS: Seiko, Citizen & Laco

I am not interested in arguing, particularly if arguments are neglected and/or there's no ultimate proof to deliver, anyway.

You already posted the link to a relevant website with lots of infos regarding Citizen Bullheads - I'm pretty sure the responsible prospective buyer will know how to use them for a thorough comparison with your watch (e.g. my hint regarding the black colour was related to the bezel itself, not a gasket) and will draw his conclusions.

You are absolutely right in saying that I am not the ultimate authority in revealing non-original Seikos or Citizens - indeed I do not claim to be a downright expert when it comes to these watches. But I was just expressing some remarks I learnt myself when performing my due diligence prior to buying my unmolested examples of the first two watches you offered. By doing so, I hoped it could be useful for some less experienced members of this community. Eventually, it still remains up to the buyer to assess the condition of a desired watch. And if you found your buyer quickly then there's nothing left to you to complain about, anyway. (My personal assessment would have been different, though, but you can easily consider it being irrelevant.)

Finally, I don't want to comment on prices any more. Clearly, with vintage watches prices are always related to the condition and originality of a certain piece so a direct comparison with previous high-end sales is always difficult, at best (and would bring us just back to the above discussion). But even in (the debatable) case your price was not ambitious: Your condition report wasn't neither, that's rather a fact.

At least, credits to you for answering to my remarks made! (Just had to smile a little bit about this one: "I felt that it can't be realistic that most of the examples you find online look polished.")

All the best,
F.Antl

: Hi,

: Regarding the black rubber gasket that surrounds the bezel, mine is
: there, but not a thick as others so you can barely see it.
: That's on me. I only noticed that now when you pointed it out.

: I also wasn't being "vague" in terms of the polish
: description. I've seen so many similar looking watches that has
: left me confused as to why they look the same. I felt that it
: can't be realistic that most of the examples you find online
: look polished. That's why I said I'm not sure about it. I said
: that on my original post.

: Still, I believe the dial is original. The tachymetre font does not
: reach the upper edge of the 60 as you suggested. I looked at it
: from all sides. It looks exactly like the one found here:

: The Seiko Monaco's hands may not be the same as yours, but I have
: seen others exactly like mine that also claim to be of good
: provenance. So, who's to say that you are more reliable than
: them?

: As for the price, I deliberately made my asking price lower than
: the usual asking prices. I have seen the Seiko go for as high as
: USD 750 and the Bullhead for at least USD 400. So, I don't think
: my prices are "ambitious".
