Rules: Postings must be an ad announcing an intent to sell, buy or trade. Full item description and photo(s) must be posted within the message here, not as links to other websites. Links to online auctions and other sites: Links to online auctions, dealer sites or other listings of items are permitted, but you should be careful to ensure that such listings will comply with our other ChronoTrader Policies. In addition, we request that sellers linking to online auctions or listings offer some benefit or accomodation to ChronoTrader readers (for example, some discount or an undertaking to end an auction early, to keep a watch "in the family"). Photos must be of the actual item for sale in its present condition. No counterfeit or replica products. No post for the same item may be repeated within 7 days, except to lower the asking price. Commercial dealers are limited to three unique posts per day. [More...]
Hi
Correct me if I'm wrong, but perhaps you received the information from a David Laurence, or one of his associates. David Laurence (according to his facebook page) works for the Gallet Watch Company as something akin to COO (though I'm not sure how legitimate that is). He frequently posts on the page Gallet Flight Officer with ad links to HIS ebay account - yes, objects of virtue*com is an ebay account owned by David. The exact same information you referenced below is produced by him - the seller of the same watch. So, I stand uncorrected - while the watch may be original, I find that his claims must be taken with a pinch of salt. I also find his actions unprofessional - you don't see him claiming to be the seller in any of those ads.

I see that you recently put this up for sale there as well. Unless you can somehow provide another source of evidence for the originality of the watch - my personal conclusion is that it is only an original gallet with different hands put on.

: Hi there phphd, and thank you for the input. I can completely
: understand your remarks and appreciate your feedback. However a
: few things I would like to add for the fairness of everyone
: reading:
: #1 You are correct that watch was available on eBay a few months
: ago, and I did win the auction you are referring to.
: #2 I'm not sure how you know that the "guru in question"
: is the seller. The person whom I worked with after purchasing
: the timepiece to arrange shipping and have some questions
: answered was a different person. Granted I understand that
: doesn't necessarily mean or prove they aren't one and the same,
: but I just thought I would be clear that I am not in anyway
: stating you are wrong with your statement. If you have some
: context on the situation, or knowledge they are in fact the
: same, I would encourage you to please share that with all of us.
: #3 The so called "guru in question" to whom I have
: received the information I have referenced in my listing, comes
: directly from the Gallet Watch Co. So from my perspective I'm
: not sure how much more of a reputable source I could have...
: Again, please understand I am not trying in anyway to "pull
: the wool over the eyes" of anyone. I am simply listing the
: information I know about the watch, and also what has been
: communicated to me from Gallet.
: Thank you.
