Rules: Postings must be an ad announcing an intent to sell, buy or trade. Full item description and photo(s) must be posted within the message here, not as links to other websites. Links to online auctions and other sites: Links to online auctions, dealer sites or other listings of items are permitted, but you should be careful to ensure that such listings will comply with our other ChronoTrader Policies. In addition, we request that sellers linking to online auctions or listings offer some benefit or accomodation to ChronoTrader readers (for example, some discount or an undertaking to end an auction early, to keep a watch "in the family"). Photos must be of the actual item for sale in its present condition. No counterfeit or replica products. No post for the same item may be repeated within 7 days, except to lower the asking price. Commercial dealers are limited to three unique posts per day. [More...]
As trivial and silly as this all seems, here is my email correspondence directly with Gallet:
During the late 1950's to the 1970's, the great majority of both the MultiChron 12H (12 hour recording) and the MultiChron 45M (45 minute recording) were sold through our primary distributor in America, Jules Racine & Company. The watches were shipped from our Swiss factory disassembled to qualify for the lower import duties for watch parts versus finished watches. These shipments would consist of separate parcels, some containing cases, others containing movements, and finally dials and hands. The watches would then be assembled accordingly, based on the particular preference or requirements of the wholesale or retail client. Regarding the hands, 3 styles were shipped from Gallet Switzerland to Jules Racine in the US:
Luminous Baton - sports, racing, military and general applications. This was the most common version.
Luminous Broad Arrow - triangular broad arrow tipped minute hand for private, commercial, and military aviation purposes. This hand style offered greater visibility in the lower light cockpit environment.
Luminous Dauphine or Pointex - laboratory, medical, scientific, geological, and time study. This style was consistent with the hands found on compasses or technical instrumentation and is more rare than the previous two types.
I hope this information is helpful. If it is convenient, can you supply additional details and images of your watch as this information would be a nice addition to our Gallet Company archives.
With our best regards,
The Gallet Watch Company

Thank you so much for the detailed and timely response. Are there any type of records to estimate the numbers of each that were produced (ie: how many with Broad Arrow hands vs the # of Dauphine hands, etc.)? Attached is a picture of my watch.

Hi Aaron,
Nice MultiChron 12H in excellent condition! This version is nicknamed the "Scientific" similar to the way that the baton hands version acquired the "Jim Clark" moniker.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide information on the end consumer or how many were assembled with different hands as these records were unfortunately lost when we closed the New York Jules Racine distributorship in 1983.

Also, please see David Laurence's profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/gallet ...unless I'm mistaken he must be lying about his work experience as COO of the company for the past 14+ years.....oh and Gallet must be lying as well: http://www.galletwatch.com/gallet_news_museum_edition_flight_officer_chronos_magazine.html ...along with the Nation Clock and Watch Museum: http://www.nawcc.org/index.php/donor-recognition/1943-heritage-society/82-museum-library-/museumlibrary/1056-gallet-museum-edition-flight-officer ....but then again....I'm sure they are all working together to help fund the ebay profile objectsofvirtue....even if it is David's
Oh well..
: Hi
: Correct me if I'm wrong, but perhaps you received the information
: from a David Laurence, or one of his associates. David Laurence
: (according to his facebook page) works for the Gallet Watch
: Company as something akin to COO (though I'm not sure how
: legitimate that is). He frequently posts on the page Gallet
: Flight Officer with ad links to HIS ebay account - yes, objects
: of virtue*com is an ebay account owned by David. The exact same
: information you referenced below is produced by him - the seller
: of the same watch. So, I stand uncorrected - while the watch may
: be original, I find that his claims must be taken with a pinch
: of salt. I also find his actions unprofessional - you don't see
: him claiming to be the seller in any of those ads.
: I see that you recently put this up for sale there as well. Unless
: you can somehow provide another source of evidence for the
: originality of the watch - my personal conclusion is that it is
: only an original gallet with different hands put on.
: Best
