FS: Rolex Chronograph (pre daytona model 6238) for sale

Hello,

I own a Rolex "Pre Daytona" Chronograph wristwatch (Model 6238) that is in very good condition and am looking to sell it. My father gave me the watch as a gift many years ago (he bought in the early sixties). Neither he or I really wore the watch much, so it has very little wear. Anyway, I am looking to sell the watch given that I have never been much of a collector and I never assigned it much sentimental value either, given that there are other family heirlooms that I've received and have more meaning to me. Also, since i don't really need the money so I would like to sell it at a good price. Any suggestions? I've done a bit a of research and apparently other watches such as this one have sold in the range of 35,000 - 43,000 in recent months. I am not sure this is the right value range or not, so I am considering having it appraised. I was considering Sothebys or other auction houses as a possible venue. I thought of using Christies or Ebay as well, but wasn't sure about them either. Thank you in advance for any guidance / advice. Oh, and I live in San Francisco.

A couple of other things that are worth noting about the watch: Since i have a pretty small wrist I had some links removed from the wristband and I unfortunately don't know where they ended up. Also, the band buckle has my father's initials engraved (LFA). From my understanding this wouldn't impair the value of the watch materially - given that they are easily replaceble parts and the value is mostly in the timepiece itself - but again, that is just my understanding.

Best,

Luis
