FS: WWII Tutima-Glashutte Luftwaffe Fliegerchrono—$3500 OBRO

Up for sale is this classic German aviator’s chronograph made by Tutima-Glashutte at the height of WWII. This watch is in overall Excellent condition with a Mint dial. The famed UROFA cal. 59 is running strong and the chronograph functions, including the flyback, are operating as they should and resetting properly. This is a rare opportunity for the serious MilWatch collector to land one of the seminal WWII watches in outstanding overall condition.

The price for this classic Luftwaffe Fliegerchrono is $3500 USD OBRO shipped worldwide. I would prefer Bank Wire or Cashier’s Check on this transaction, although if I know you I will take a personal check. But if you must, Paypal is on me with eCheck strongly preferred. Payment must be made in US DOLLARS. The watch will ship upon full clearance of the funds, as well as any necessary bank vetting.

CASE: Large 40mm German silver case (an alloy of copper, nickel and likely zinc) in Excellent overall condition with just a bit of typical age–related brassing.

CASEBACK: Stainless steel screw in back has some external scratches. Outer serial # matches that on the movement. Inner caseback shows negligible corrosion and is marked Glashutte for the place of manufacture in Germany.

DIAL & HANDS: Exceptional Mint original sterile (Mark II?) matte black dial with non-glowing original radium Arabic numerals and radial constant seconds and 30-minute registers. The finely calibrated outer seconds track is completely intact, as are the inner register tracks. Cathedral hour & minute hands appear to have been cleaned and have definitely been relumed; they are in perfect condition. Original white painted sweep seconds hand is also near perfect with just a smidge of paint loss. My guess is the two small subregister hands have been switched but they are in perfect condition.

CROWN & PUSHERS: Original oversized textured nickel silver winding crown without dings and only a bit of brassing. It winds and pulls out to set the time as it should. The pushers are custom made modern replacement by S-Parts of Germany. They match the case and function perfectly.

CRYSTAL: Acrylic crystal is chip & crack free with nary a scratch.

BEZEL: German silver knurled rotating bezel has a couple of scratches and a bit of smoothing in one area but is still easily in Very Good condition. I added a bit of red model paint to the recording notch for my own pleasure, as this is how it originally looked.

MOVEMENT: This great Fliegerchrono features the famed UROFA cal. 59 Flyback chronograph movement, which was classified by the Luftwaffe as a military secret during WWII due to its technical excellence. While I have never had the watch serviced since owning it and therefore cannot guarantee that it will not need a service in future, this Tutima-Glashutte keeps great time and all chronograph functions record and reset properly, including the flyback function of course. As stated above, the SN on the bridge matches that on the external caseback.

BRACELET/BAND: This Fliegerchrono is furnished on a gently used black Bund strap. It has 20mm fixed lug bars.

I make absolutely NO guarantees for the water resistance of this watch.

This great WWII aviator’s chrono is offered with a 3-day inspection period from the date of receipt and may be returned for a full refund (less any shipping costs incurred by the buyer). This refund is unconditional and once I get the watch back in exactly the same condition as it was sent to you , your money will be refunded. Of course, once the 3 days are over the sale will be considered FINAL.

Thanks for looking,
T.
