FS: 1964 AOPA Breitling ref. 809 steel Cosmonaute

Very nice 1964 Breitling AOPA Cosmonaut in a steel case. Quite a difficult watch to find today. This Cosmonaut does not appear to have been polished as the chamfers are sharp and it still has the micro-fine factory brushed finish on both the sides of the case and the smooth part of the bezel. After handling so very many watches through the years, it is apparent when I see and hold a watch that has been worn, but well taken care of. This is one of those and not one that has been brought back to life after years of neglect. Inside of the case back are many fine scribes identifying its service through the years. Beautiful original AOPA dial that does not have the words Cosmonaut which is seen in later Twin Jets versions. The bezel rotates with the appropriate tension and it has the proper low-profile crystal. Serial number of the watch is 991,XXX. The movement is extremely clean, winds smooth as butter, runs strong and all of the chronograph functions operate properly and return smartly. I do not know its service history. Breitling signed crown. This watch has a genuine Breitling black-stitched leather band that has been worn, but it is in good condition and nicely worn in. It is very comfortable to wear and has a Breitling buckle. I am not so familiar with the early AOPA Cosmonautes to directly put a price on it so I will be accepting offers over $6,000.Shipping by Fed-Ex will be included. As always, full refund less shipping if you are not satisfied.
