For sale is a very hard to find Breitling Top Time 810 Mark 1.1. The very first and, in my opinion, best Top Time issued in 1964 with rare Monocoque case unique to the MK1.1 and powered by the excellent Venus 178 movement.
For a 55 year old watch it is in very good condition. Dial is unmarked with some slight spotting in the sundials only visible with a loupe. The tritium lume is aged but all present and reacts very briefly to light. Hands are original and may have been repainted but, again, the lume is all original. Crystal is clean and unmarked. Signed Breitling Crown and original pushers. The watch has a great wrist presence at 38mm diameter and lugs of 21mm, bigger than the contemporary Carrera 2447 and around the same wrist size as an Autavia 2446.
The watch comes with two Jones in Tokyo handmade straps, both lightly used, correctly sized for the unusual 21mm lugs. There is also a 16mm Breitling signed buckle on the tapered strap on the watch, possibly reproduction but it gives a nice touch.
The Venus 178 movement was serviced in Sydney two years ago by the previous owner and the chronograph functions properly and resets correctly. The watch also keeps good time.
