DESCRIPTION
Tudor 7021/0 Oyster Prince Submariner, a.k.a the Tudor Blue Snowflake 1969 with roulette date wheel

WRIST ICONS presents the Tudor 7021/0 Submariner Blue Snowflake with an original hard to find roulette date wheel from 1969. This is one of the most iconic diving watches ever made. The watch has a beautiful blue dial and bezel with its very different and appealing snowflake styled hands for increased visibility during diving. Tudor Snowflakes are the Submariners of Tudor with reference numbers 7016/0, 7021/0, 9104/0, and 9411/0 produced from 1969 to 1975 and some newer reissue models. This Snowflake is one of the most desirable since it is Tudor Submariner

History of the Tudor Snowflake
In 1954 Tudor released their first diving watch reference 7922, TUDOR Oyster Prince Submariner . Tudor supplied the Snowflake Submariners to the Marine Nationale (French Navy), especially the Groupe de Plongeurs Démineurs (founded in 1955 ). They became a testing bed for Tudor’s Submariner line. They used the Tudor Submariners from the mid 1950's to the early 1980's. Although a diver’s watch at its core, the Tudor Submariner “Snowflake” was also fashioned to be suitable and elegant enough for everyday use.

Design
What sets the Tudor Submariner apart from other diving watches are its distinctive snowflake hands with square luminescent hands and hour markers, which allowed users to clearly see the dial underwater. The watch was introduced in a black and a blue dial. This particular watch has the more desired blue dial. The Tudor Snowflake Submariner was the first model to use Tudor’s new logo, a shield. On top of that this watch This specific reference 7021/0 was the first Tudor Submariner to feature a date complication and it also has a rather cool roulette date wheel, with black numbers of un even dates and red numbers for the even dates. Really often this date wheel has been changed after service and thereby this reference was also produced without a roulette date wheel.

Condition
This stunning example of The Tudor Snowflake 7021/0 reference is in really good honest vintage condition. It has all the good parts what makes this a great looking vintage piece
Dial: Original Blue Tritium dial with stunning " patina. Similarly to the case, the blue dial is in excellent condition, the hour markers of the dial have a really nice patina with a kind of creamy colour.
Hands: Original "Snowflake" Tritium hands. The creamy patina of the snowflake hands match the patina of the square hour markers perfectly. Possibly the lume of the hands have been stabilized. The lume of hour hand of early Tudor Snowflake are notoriously prone to get a break in the lume or loose a part of the luminescent material.
Case: case has been polished. Lugs are thick & even showing factory chamfers. Reference & serial numbers are fully legible. Case shows wear. (Please see pictures).
Crown: Original Rolex twin lock crown.
Bezel & Insert: Original blue bezel with stunning original fat font faded blue insert.
Bracelet: Tudor 7836 folded link bracelet with 380 end links.
Movement: Bought serviced. Just checked by our watchmaker.. Running perfectly with a one year service warranty. The watch carries the the self-winding ETA calibre 2484 with a date disc, polished decorations and circular Côtes de Genève finishings. The movement features 25 jewels and a bi-directional central rotor, beating at 36,000 A/h, with a power reserve of 42-hours. The movement is clean, and during the time of testing the watch was fully functional.
Accessories: None.

Notes: Absolutely stunning example of a super desirable Tudor 7021/0 with an attractive dial and original hands. Very hard to find these in this condition.

Overall, the Tudor 7021-0 Submariner Blue is noteworthy, both for its design and execution. This Tudor 7021-0 Submariner Blue is remarkably well preserved.

As with all of our pre-owned watches this watch comes with a full 12 month warranty with ourselves that will be invoked from the day of purchase.
