This forum is for BUYING, SELLING and TRADING only--not for discussing watches. Please limit postings to specific ads for buying, selling or trading watches, parts or accessories that that match at least one of the following categories:

Please see our ChronoTrader Policies and Terms of Use. Learn more about How To Include Photos In Your Postings.

Rules: Postings must be an ad announcing an intent to sell, buy or trade. Full item description and photo(s) must be posted within the message here, not as links to other websites. Links to online auctions and other sites: Links to online auctions, dealer sites or other listings of items are permitted, but you should be careful to ensure that such listings will comply with our other ChronoTrader Policies. In addition, we request that sellers linking to online auctions or listings offer some benefit or accomodation to ChronoTrader readers (for example, some discount or an undertaking to end an auction early, to keep a watch "in the family"). Photos must be of the actual item for sale in its present condition. No counterfeit or replica products. No post for the same item may be repeated within 7 days, except to lower the asking price. Commercial dealers are limited to three unique posts per day. [More...]

FS: Vintage Glycine Airman SST *PIC*

For sale is a Vintage Glycine Airman SST from the late 1970's with original Glycine bracelet. The watch is fully functional with the hacking mechanism by wire functioning. The watch has been aquired from the first owner who purchased it 1985 from Century Jewellers in the US. Unfortunately, the box and papers have been misplaced are not part of the sale.
SST stood for SuperSonic Transport and was released during an age where the world believed that supersonic passenger jets were the future. There is an excellent article on the history of the watch on timepiechronicle dot com.

The Airman SST is in very good, fully functional vintage condition. The movement runs well and the date changes exactly at midnight. Hacking feature by wire works!
Please check the pictures carefully to determine the condition of the watch. Any questions, please feel free to ask.
MODEL / REFERENCE: Glycine Airman SST with Century signed dial.
DIAL+HANDS: original black and grey dial in excellent condition. The dial is signed Century Airman SST. Under the loupe, you can notice minor spots close to the center of the dial. The tritium indexes are in near perfect ondition. The hands are original and the hour hand retains the tritium lume, while the lume on the minute and second hand must have been replaced during a service. The tritum lume on the indexes and hands glows briefly when activated with UV light while the hands do not glow.
BEZEL: original internal bezel in very good condition, rotates when operated by the crown at 2 o'clock.
CRYSTAL: Plexy cristal in very good condition.
MOVEMENT: A. Schild 2163 movement in fully functional condition, signed “Century Jewelry Co”
CASE: 41.5 mm stainless steel case in very good condition.
CASEBACK: stainless steel caseback showing a SuperSonic jet and SST by Glycine wording. The inside of the caseback carries a Glycine stamp.
CROWN & PUSHERS: original cross hatched crown
STRAP: The watch comes on the original Glycine signed steel bracelet with folding clasp.

Dial, caseback, movement and bracelet signed. The watch is in overall excellent vintage condition and all functions operate as they should with the hacking function by wire working.
