FS: Heuer Vintage Pre Carrera Chronograph Big Eyes Ref. 2406

We are proud to present this elusive and highly sought after, Heuer “Big Eyes” chronograph reference 2406, dating from the early 1940s.

The 1930s were also integral to the development of Heuer's chronographs. In this decade, the manufacture released its first waterproof chronograph. These cases are notable for their round pushers, which are allowed for the insertion of a rubber seal to keep moisture out.

Please read the condition report carefully to help you assess the overall condition of the watch.

MODEL / REFERENCE: Heuer “Big Eyes” chronograph reference 2406. Production year circa 1942.

DIAL+HANDS: The glossy black dial is balanced with great legibility in mind thanks to its “big eyes” referring to the oversized, engine-turned subdials. Although it shows homogeneous spotting, the original dial is incredibly intact without scratches or chipping and retains its original imprint.

The luminous radium numerals are outstandingly preserved. The radium lume has aged beautifully to an attractive warm tone. Please note that the hands have been professionally relumed.

CRYSTAL: This timepiece comes fitted with an unsigned acrylic crystal, which is in very good condition, showing slightly visible marks.

MOVEMENT: The manually wound, Landeron 13 caliber, features a two-button, two-register chronograph display.
It was professionally overhauled thus functional fully and keeps excellent time.

CASE: The two-body stainless steel case measures 35mm across and a 42mm lug to lug. It is in overall lovely condition, with strong profiling lines, a brushed finish, even downturned lugs and a sloped bezel. The surface displays few small scratches, especially on the lugs, consistent with the age and use of the watch.

CASEBACK: The screw down case back is in beautiful vintage condition, presenting minor surface scuffs and a prominently engraved text, over the original brushed finish.
The inner face features a perlage finish and a stamped serial number.

CROWN + PUSHERS: The oversized winding crown appears to be original despite being unsigned. It is in good condition and operates flawlessly, from winding to time setting. The pump pushers operate crisply. They start, stop and reset the chronograph module exactly at 12.

BRACELET: This chronograph comes equipped with an 18mm leather strap and an unsigned pin buckle.

ACCESSORIES: Saffiano Leather watch roll.

This beautiful steel chronograph epitomizes Heuer's mid-century design prowess. With tremendous looks, brilliant patina, and robust internals, this is a watch that combines utility with a crisp retro look.

Though the dial does not have “Carrera” on the dial, this chronograph is no less worthy of consideration, especially with demand for Heuers of this era.

WARRANTY: We guarantee the authenticity of the watch. We also provide 12 months guarantee for the correct function of this timepiece. All guarantees are subject to the General Terms and Conditions.

The price is 3,750 CHF Plus Shipping (Swiss Franc) or best reasonable offer plus shipping at actual cost. Low ball offers will be politely ignored.
