Please see our ChronoTrader Policies and Terms of Use. Learn more about How To Include Photos In Your Postings.

Rules: Postings must be an ad announcing an intent to sell, buy or trade. Full item description and photo(s) must be posted within the message here, not as links to other websites. Links to online auctions and other sites: Links to online auctions, dealer sites or other listings of items are permitted, but you should be careful to ensure that such listings will comply with our other ChronoTrader Policies. In addition, we request that sellers linking to online auctions or listings offer some benefit or accomodation to ChronoTrader readers (for example, some discount or an undertaking to end an auction early, to keep a watch "in the family"). Photos must be of the actual item for sale in its present condition. No counterfeit or replica products. No post for the same item may be repeated within 7 days, except to lower the asking price. FS: 1968 Waltham ABU-9/A Aircraft dash clock

Waltham aircraft clock ABU-9/A mechanical 8 days aircraft clock made according to MIL-C-27289 spec. Marked "8 DAYS" and ABU-9/A (in black on black) on dial. Low #1203 s/n#.

Data plate on back reads:

98429-W33-7590-10A

SER. NO. 1203

CLOCK, AIRCRAFT, MECHANICAL. ABU-9/A

CONTRACT NO DAAA25-68-C-0807

U.S.

Clock sets, winds, and runs to about 30-45 sec/day accuracy but chrono is frozen and does NOT work. I bought this as a fixer-upper but never got around to servicing and mounting it for desk use. This model would be electrically illuminated in red, but I have not hooked it up to electrical to test the illumination. No information on the type(s) of aircraft this model was used in, though some casual research suggested these were often used helicopters.

The winder knob at 8 o'clock has had a "bite" ground out of it, perhaps a modification to create a notch for easier grip when pulling to set or as an expedient repair to allow a shorter screw to be used to attach the knob. Glass crystal has proper dual-coat AR coating intact.

Sold as is.

$150 shipped in CONUS by Paypal. Shipped elsewhere at cost. Inquire by PM or email to watches@ryanrooney.com.
