FS: Rare Zenith El Primero Espada tripledate Moonphase

FS – Rare Zenith El Primero Espada triple date Moonphase Chronograph

Offered here first.…..

For sale- a rare El Primero movement triple date moonphase stainless steel chronograph, with original Zenith box including both an original Zenith SS bracelet and a Zenith signed buckle and strap.

I searched for ages to find one of these.

The Zenith El Primero movement: the world’s first and finest automatic chronograph movement. The Espada, Zenith’s most complicated and advanced landmark vintage chronograph.

This was the top of the range automatic chronograph available in the 1970’s, a landmark piece. Set to increase in value significantly in the years to come, truly an investment piece in investment condition.

Details:

Reference: 01.0040.418

Functions: chronograph function, triple date calendar, moonphase register

Dimensions: 45 mm x 39 mm not including the crown, thickness approx 15mm

Reference: 01.0040.418

Caseback signed: 01.0040.418 “ Sub Sea Stainless Steel”. Originally a waterproof design, yet I counsel to not swim in it today……

Crown: Screw in crown signed with Zenith logo. Unusual design inner threaded screw in crown, working flawlessly.

Pushers: Date and Moonphase adjustment pushers working perfectly

Crystal: blemish free, amazing domed design, clear and unscratched.

Dial: Amazing three dimensional dial with vivid colours, and clean and clear printing in fine condition. Outer blue colour tachymeter, silver dial with gloss blue subdials. Perfect, unblemished condition.

Hands: correct and original hands throughout.

Moonphase: unblemished moonphase disc- lovely.

Movement: Zenith El Primero. I’m assuming it’s 30 jewels because the watch was sold in Asia and not the US (where lower 17 Jewel El Primero movements were retailed to lower duty as US customs import duty was imposed on the movement’s number of jewels) however I’m not going to risk opening it to check.

Case: Unusual and attractive cushion/square design case. Great unblemished original condition, has not been polished and is in excellent condition with original brushed and polished finishes. Large stainless steel case in excellent condition.

Strap/Buckle and SS Bracelet: Original long length Zenith signed 22mm stainless steel bracelet and original Zenith signed SS buckle and 22mm strap.

Box: original ‘70’s Zenith Box.

Provenance: Bought from original owner, worn sparingly by both him and I.

Price: $US4000 and worth every cent- go price a new Zenith moonphase ChronoMaster. Reluctantly offered: I'm quite happy to keep it.....

I'm a long term collector and contributor to On-the-Dash, with several of my Heuer pieces featured on the site: so buy with confidence.

Email me for pictures at "rallyequipe@ozemail.com.au” for pictures and further details if serious about this watch.

Over to you.

Stewart Kay.
