OK, so despite advice to the contrary, the recent arrival of my Flightmaster means that this gorgeous Speedmaster Moon watch is reluctantly up for sale.
It's a 1999 Apollo XI 30th Anniversary Moon Landing Edition which I took in a trade recently for another watch. It looks from the front like the traditional Speedy Pro (black dial, white hands, etc), and has the 1861 manual wind calibre, but the unique point of this model is that the wording on the back reads:
"HELLO HOUSTON, TRANQUILITY BASE HERE, THE EAGLE HAS LANDED" JULY 21, 1969 02:56 GMT
It also has the Apollo XI logo in the centre instead of the standard moon watch logo.
The watch itself is in near mint condition (the head being virtually unmarked) with only a couple of small, light scratches on the hesalite crystal (should be polishable with some polywatch or equivalent) and a couple of hairlines on 3 or 4 of the bracelet links and clasp, although as they're brushed you have to look hard to see them. The bracelet has plenty of links, by the way.
It comes with outer white cardboard and inner black leather boxes, polishing cloth, booklets (warranty and operating instructions), authenticity certificate ("limited" edition number 8423 of 9999 - OK, so not that limited then!) and red warranty card holder. There is no warranty card but there is a letter from Swatch Spain (the gentleman I traded it with was Spanish) detailing a recent service in October 2005.
There's a whole load of photographs via the link at the bottom of this post, though I don't think the photos do it justice, as it really is in lovely condition.
Preference will be given to a straight sale (and a UK deal), but if you have another watch to part-trade then I may possibly be interested. Selling price is £1075 posted RMSD within the UK.
