FS: Awesome Heuer Rally-Master Pair

I have listed this one on ebay, but will end to auction to sell to one of our Chronocentric / OTD good guys. Reserve is $2,850; it should be worth more than that . . . Let's discuss if you want to buy it.

Thanks,

Jeff

Rally-Master Pair (RMP24)

Heuer

Rally-Master Pair

This is the ultimate Heuer for races and rallies -- the Rally-Master pair, consisting of a Master Time (8-day clock) and a Monte Carlo (12-hour stopwatch). The Rally-Master pairs were introduced in 1958; this pair is a later version, introduced in 1967. This is a beautifully matched pair, with the dials and hands matching almost perfectly. The pair comes on an genuine Heuer back-plate, marked Heuer-Leonidas.

This version of the Master Time has numerals 1 through 12 on the dial. This Master Time is an excellent runner -- over the course of one week, it kept time within 8 seconds per day. The hacking and setting mechanisms work properly. There are minor scuffs on the plastic crystals, but the dials are near mint, among the very best that I have seen.

This is the "decimal minutes" version of the Monte Carlo, preferred by racers and rally navigators. The hour disc is excellent; the start / stop / reset functions work properly. Best of all, this is the most accurate Monte Carlo that I have ever seen or heard of. In one week, it was accurate to within two seconds for the entire week.

The later version of the Master Time was powered by the Arogno 28 (single-barrel) movement. These are more reliable than the earlier two-barrel movements. This one runs strong and is a great time-keeper.

The Monte Carlo is powered by the Valjoux 7714 movement. This one is super clean, and is an absolutely amazing time-keeper.

It's been a long time since we saw such a nice Rally-Master pair offfered on ebay. Prices have risen strongly over the last year, and the correct pairs (Master Time and Monte Carlo) are disappearing quickly. You will not find a better looking pair; you certainly will not find a better running pair . . . put this one on the dashboard of your vintage racer, display it on your desk or store it in the vault as an investment . . . values are climbing on the very best dashboard timers, and you won't find a nicer pair than this one.
