Rules: Postings must be an ad announcing an intent to sell, buy or trade. Full item description and photo(s) must be posted within the message here, not as links to other websites. Links to online auctions and other sites: Links to online auctions, dealer sites or other listings of items are permitted, but you should be careful to ensure that such listings will comply with our other ChronoTrader Policies. In addition, we request that sellers linking to online auctions or listings offer some benefit or accomodation to ChronoTrader readers (for example, some discount or an undertaking to end an auction early, to keep a watch "in the family"). Photos must be of the actual item for sale in its present condition. No counterfeit or replica products. No post for the same item may be repeated within 7 days, except to lower the asking price. Commercial dealers are limited to three unique posts per day. [More...]
For sale is a vintage Leonidas 2 register chrono, keeping excellent time and with all chrono functions working perfectly. It's in close to original condition and appears to have been worn lightly after being originally purchased and thrown into storage for the next 40 or so years. I picked it up maybe a month or so ago, wore it a few times, and have since decided that that I can't trust myself to take proper care of it.
The movement, as shown in the below pictures, is actually stamped Heuer-Leonidas, indicating that it was made after the acquisition in '64. I haven't seen any other "Poor Man's Carreras" out there with "Heuer" appearing anywhere on the movement, so I suppose this one is unique in that respect. Also included is the original stamped "Heuer-Leonidas" warranty book and the case from the original jeweler in Venice. I'll also throw in a perforated Di-Modell strap I picked up recently and have worn only a few times, as well as what I believe is the original leather strap (pictured).
The pictures show how clean this one is, but it's worth mentioning that the acrylic has very light marks on it that should polish right out. Everything else is just about original condition: The head itself and the perforated strap are TZ "Near Mint," but the original strap shows its wear (and age).
I've never seen another like this anywhere on-line, and I would guess that the "Heuer-Leonidas" stamp and warranty book add to its collectibility and distinguish it from other Poor Man's Carreras.
Asking $900 shipped, but would entertain reasonable trade offers (particularly for a Sinn). Any questions or offers can reach me at mikeskee@gmail.com.
