Please see our ChronoTrader Policies and Terms of Use. Learn more about How To Include Photos In Your Postings.

Rules: Postings must be an ad announcing an intent to sell, buy or trade. Full item description and photo(s) must be posted within the message here, not as links to other websites. Links to online auctions and other sites: Links to online auctions, dealer sites or other listings of items are permitted, but you should be careful to ensure that such listings will comply with our other ChronoTrader Policies. Will you be offering any benefit or accomodation to ChronoTrader readers?

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I feel that there is a benefit to Chronotrader readers as, while there is no direct discount to users of this excellent site, I intend using the proceeds from this sale to grow and improve my chrongraph collection.

So... Basically there is no “benefit or accomodation to ChronoTrader readers” as you readily admit. Only benefit to you...

The sale of this watch will hopefully fund a Gay Freres bracelet and endpieces for my Autavia 2446c which (of course) I shall be looking for on this site (this watch is visible in the pictures on my other ebay auction - a Heuer Divers watch - to reassure you that I am not being mendacious here). I hope this is acceptable to you and other site users.

That you seek to use the funds from your sale for other watches is nice, but it's not terribly relevent in the context of the forum guidelines.

The reason why that phrase is in there is to prevent the ChronoTrader forum from being deluged with nothing but pointers to eBay auctions. Which is something that neither Jeff nor I want and perhaps more importantly we don't want our viewers to be subjected to [endless shilling for eBay auctions].

Now if you were to offer a BuyItNow price here with the idea if someone was interested you'd end the auction... Then you would be in compliance with forum guidelines.

As it is, I personally would be hard pressed to leave the listing up and on the board. My inclination would be to delete it as it sets a precident and allows a slippery slope towards a situation we don't want. It's your call [Jeff] but I'd be inclined to afford Marc the opportunity to modify/revise his listing to bring it into compliance with posted guidelines, but if he stands firm... I'd personally pull it. But it's your call Jeff.

Regards,

Marc.
