Hi all,
Here we have for sale a very nice example of an early 1163V.
The watch itself is fully original and unrestored/polished, with the exception of the crystal which I know to be a replacement and possibly the bezel insert, which is in such good condition that it leads me to believe that it is a replacement item.
The case is fantastic – free of any major dents or scratches, retaining very sharp original edges and very clear sunburst brushing to the top surfaces, for certain one of the better unrestored cases out there. The same is true of the bezel.
The dial is super clean, one or two marks near the centre hole so minor they require specific light and excellent vision to make out. The lume has excellent patina and matches the hands perfectly. The hands are in mint condition.
The strap is a very accurate Corfam replica with a Heuer buckle marked “B” on the reverse. This strap/buckle combination was new a year or so ago.
The movement is the very early and rare Cal 11i variant – and it is original to this watch; the Cal 11i signifier of a small triangle stamped into the lug reverse tells the observer that this watch contains the modified Cal 11 movement – see the below pictures. The movement functions as intended.
Now we hit the “BUT” section of the description – the watch movement requires a new winding rotor. I bought the watch years ago with a broken rotor (the weight had separated from the winder stem, a problem not unheard of) and always meant to replace it – however I only ever got as far as removing the broken rotor assembly and re-assembling the watch to use in the mean time. The watch works perfectly when hand wound, and a full wind lasts around 2 days. Rotor assemblies do come up for sale, I have just never got round to purchasing and fitting one! This is of course reflected in the price.
The watch also comes with a box, as it did when I bought it, but this looks to be in far too good condition to be the original, so regard it as a fake – I have no idea how to tell a genuine one from a fake one.
In summary, a perfectly useable early 1163V in fabulous condition, ready to wear but requiring a winding rotor.
Looking for £1700 GBP, will post worldwide.
Thanks, Victor
