Rules: Postings must be an ad announcing an intent to sell, buy or trade. Full item description and photo(s) must be posted within the message here, not as links to other websites. Links to online auctions and other sites: Links to online auctions, dealer sites or other listings of items are permitted, but you should be careful to ensure that such listings will comply with our other ChronoTrader Policies. In addition, we request that sellers linking to online auctions or listings offer some benefit or accomodation to ChronoTrader readers (for example, some discount or an undertaking to end an auction early, to keep a watch "in the family"). I am putting up for sale my Universal Geneve Tri-Compax 881101/02 "Evil Clapton".
It is in lovely condition, with a few little signs of its age. Some details below.
Case: The 36.5mm twisted lug case is in great overall condition, with only very light wear from normal use. There is a tiny little dent on the outer edge of the bezel at 9 o'clock. Please see pictures for more detail.
Dial: Most lume plots are fully intact but the plot at 9 o'clock is either very dark or more likely, missing. All others have a nice patina. Sub-dials are all in great shape with an even, creamy patina. The day and date wheels are in Portuguese.
Hands: All hands are original, functional, and in good shape. The lume has a nice patina on the hour and minutes hands. Around the centre of the red chrono hand some of the original paint is missing.
Movement: All functions work as they should. The watch keeps time v well and all chrono and date functions perform smoothly and accurately, including the moonphase. I have not opened the case back, but the watch was serviced just before I bought it (about 18-24 months ago).
Crystal: I don't think it is the original crystal as it doesn't have the etched "U" in the centre, but it is in very nice condition with just a couple of very light scratches that I expect could be buffed out with Polywatch.
Bezel: Original bezel with correct dot-over-ninety orientation is in stunning condition - one of the best I have seen other than NOS examples.
Strap: The watch will be sold with a recently made and very lightly worn custom vintage leather strap (not shown in photos). Comes with an original "U" Universal buckle.
