FS: Rare Vintage Bucherer Military 817 Chronograph Lemania Min

Brand: Bucherer / Lemania 1960's

Model: Chronograph, 817

Movement: Lemania 3872,

Condition: just Serviced in December 2016 running perfect.

This Bucherer has a stunning sunburst blue dial which is very hard to photograph its beauty. Extremely legible but almost a mirror like blue. Can be worn dressy or casual with a strap change. I've had a couple of the rare 817's and this is by far the most flawless case yet. Aside from a few light scratches on the case back it looks brand new. The Bezel has faded beautifully (my favorite yet) to a point in between black and fully ghosted and complements the dial incredibly. This is a rare piece. Even better is that the watch was serviced in December of 2016 and runs perfectly and all chronograph functions snap back to zero crisply.

Email me if you require any further pictures or have any questions.
In the early-70's, Bucherer had Lemania produce a chronograph that they could sell in their jewelry stores under their own name. Only a handful of these watches were produced; it's likely that no more than a couple dozen were ever made. It is also interesting to note that when Helmut Sinn sold off his collection, an unbranded identical piece to this was in the collection.

This watch uses the exact same case, designated the '817', as a number of well-known Lemania military chronographs, including the legendary "Viggen" made for the Swedish Air Force (SwAF) and a model made for the South African Air Force (SAAF).

The movement, an extremely rare Lemania 3872, is essentially an Omega 861 with two registers and a date. This particular example features a stunning Blue sunburst dial with tachymetre and applied hour indices.

- the case is mint, bevels perfect and case back almost perfect with some light scratches. Engraving is perfect.

- The bezel is beautifully faded

- The caseback has some very minor scratches. The engraving is still clearly visible and crisp including the small star symbols.

- The Crystal is excellent

- The dial is fully original and tritium Lume pots are intact but don't hold much Lume.

- Grey Nato strap included for casual look. You can dress this watch up with a nice black or dark blue leather strap or any other 20mm.

Asking $3,995 ORBO (Buyer pays PP fees and Shipping)
