Rules: Postings must be an ad announcing an intent to sell, buy or trade. Full item description and photo(s) must be posted within the message here, not as links to other websites. Links to online auctions and other sites: Links to online auctions, dealer sites or other listings of items are permitted, but you should be careful to ensure that such listings will comply with our other ChronoTrader Policies. In addition, we request that sellers linking to online auctions or listings offer some benefit or accomodation to ChronoTrader readers (for example, some discount or an undertaking to end an auction early, to keep a watch "in the family"). Photos must be of the actual item for sale in its present condition. No counterfeit or replica products. No post for the same item may be repeated within 7 days, except to lower the asking price. Commercial dealers are limited to three unique posts per day. [More...]
I'm selling my 38mm UG Uni-Compax with much pain to make way for new additions to the collection. Universal has become one of the most redialed/recased/frankened brands out there, so it's special when you can find an all original, big-cased, UG in excellent condition. I hope the UG lovers out there will appreciate this one for this reason.
Dial: The dial is outstanding. I've included macros of the dial logos, they're just a joy to see under the loupe, the fine serif extending from each letter, the precision of the print. Other than a very fine mark at the 12 o'clock position, the dial is immaculate and all original. Honestly, I didn't even notice that mark until this past week while prepping for this sale.
Case: A "jumbo" 38mm, solid 18Kt pink gold case in great condition, still sharp. There are a few fine scratches on the satined sides, with some more noticeable marks on the caseback. The bezel and mirrored finish front of the case are completely free of any dings or scratch.
Movement: A UG 285 ticks inside, signed by the brand. From external exam, the movement looks to be free of any corrosion/rust. It keeps good time, starts/stops/resets perfectly. The action on the pushers is buttery and smooth. I don't know the service history, it will eventually benefit from a basic service, but I have full confidence in its performance and so should the future buyer.
Extras: The watch comes with an extract from the archives of Universal Geneve. It will also come with a great tan pigskin strap with gold pin buckle.
Price: Most dealers are selling these for $5K and up, many in worse condition. I'm asking $4200 USD, excluding shipping. I'm shipping from Chicago and will ship internationally.
This is a wonderful opportunity to own a great example from a great brand!
