Up for sale is a 1990s Omega Speedmaster Professional Ref. 145.022
For the collector who wants a vintage Speedy with all the romance, but not the price tag, there’s the Reference 145.022. Produced from the late 1960s to the 1990s, the Reference 145.022 is the perfect entry point into the world of vintage Speedmasters.
This particular Speedy might date from the 1990s, but in spirit and aesthetics it has all the elements of a classic Moon watch, both inside and out. The movement that powers this watch is the same Calibre .861 that powered the watches worn by Jim Lovell and his crew during the harrowing Apollo 13 spaceflight. The case is the same asymmetrical one that marked the Speedy since the late 1960s, and the dial still has tritium luminescent material, giving it a patina that’s as mouth-watering as any Speedy from the 1960s or 1970s.
Case diameter: 41mm (excl. crown)
Lug Diameter: 20mm
Strap Type: one 20mm tan leather strap
Dial condition: very good condition overall with rich patina to the luminescent elements of the hour markers and hands
Crown: signed Omega
Case material: stainless steel; case back is in good condition but painted engraving has flaked out in some spots
Movement: calibre 861 manually-wound chronograph movement
