Re: FS: Early "El Primero" Movado "Datron" Auto Chrono

: The "El Primero" chronograph was developed in the late
: 1960's by a colloborative effort between Movado and Zenith watch
: companies, and is recognized as the first automatic chronograph
: movement with date ever produced. The placement of the date
: window at 4:30 on the dial was a distinctive feature of the
: "El Primero," although Movado also produced an early
: "El Primero" variant with date at 12:00. Here is a
: rare late 1960's vintage Movado automatic chronograph with the
: high-grade high-beat "El Primero" movement with date
: at 12:00. Here's the details on this highly collectible
: automatic chronograph: MOVADO ("Datron HS-360"
: Automatic Chronograph) - Excellent 37mm signed stainless steel
: screwback case with gold finished bezel and lugs, round
: chronograph push buttons at 2:00 and 4:00, signed 31 jewel
: high-grade high-beat "El Primero" automatic
: chronograph movement with date (calibre 3019 PHC), excellent

: signed original crystal, signed original flip-clasp bracelet.
: The Movado "Datron HS-360" was one of the earliest
: versions of the "El Primero" automatic chronograph
: movement, and was issued only under the Movado marque. The
: "Datron HS-360" version of the "El Primero"
: incorporated the high-grade high-beat (36k BPH) automatic
: movement "which gave a better and more stable rate due to
: the higher frequency...automatic winding and high precision
: fast-beating movements made these extremely good wristwatches
: ("The Movado History," Fritz von Osterhausen, p. 154).
: This piece is unusually rare with the signed original crystal
: and original signed Movado flip-clasp bracelet! The stainless
: steel screwdown caseback on this watch is signed Movado with the
: reference number 434-615-502 on the inner caseback, and
: "Sub-Sea" on the outer caseback. The 40 micron gold
: finished bezel and lugs are in very good condition with less
: wear than often seen on this model. The high-beat 31 jewel
: Movado signed calibre 3019 PHC "El Primero" automatic
: chronograph movement was serviced in October of 2004, and is
: running fine and keeping excellent time, with the chronograph
: and quickset date functions working as designed. The attractive
: original gold satin dial features three sunken black registers
: and date aperture at 12:00, and is signed, "Movado, Datron,
: HS-360, T Swiss Made T." The signed bracelet is original to
: the watch, and will fit up to about a 7.5 inch wrist. This is
: one of the most revered chronograph movements ever produced, and
: is a classic and highly collectibe piece of horological history!
: This movement was used by Rolex for decades in the Rolex
: "Daytona" chronograph model! EARLY "EL
