Rules: Postings must be an ad announcing an intent to sell, buy or trade. Full item description and photo(s) must be posted within the message here, not as links to other websites. Links to online auctions and other sites: Links to online auctions, dealer sites or other listings of items are permitted, but you should be careful to ensure that such listings will comply with our other ChronoTrader Policies. In addition, we request that sellers linking to online auctions or listings offer some benefit or accomodation to ChronoTrader readers (for example, some discount or an undertaking to end an auction early, to keep a watch "in the family"). Photos must be of the actual item for sale in its present condition. No counterfeit or replica products. No post for the same item may be repeated within 7 days, except to lower the asking price. Commercial dealers are limited to three unique posts per day. [More...]
On offer's a Vulcain 39mm Valjoux 730-powered triple-date chronograph. I haven't seen one like this before: this dial began its life as a Wakmann triple-date, but the Wakmann badge was painted over and the Vulcain logo was painted on—properly, I should add. This isn't some after-market thing: it seems akin to the Zodiacs that still have the Heuer badges visible beneath. Regardless: the chrome case is signed (correctly) Gigandet in the caseback, the crown's got the Wakmann crown, and the Valjoux 730's signed Vulcain. I'm fairly certain (given that this was a one-owner watch that I just picked up from the original owner's child) this is completely original; I certainly have no reason to suspect otherwise.
The dial's in great shape; spotless, with full lume, clean applied markers, and no discoloration I can see anywhere. Hands are great as well.
The movement needs a service. The hour totalizer doesn't reset. The central chrono hand resets to 6 seconds. The minute chrono totalizer resets correctly each time. The time keeping's excellent. Haven't noticed anything wonky with the day/date/month functions.
Asking $2200 on this. Happy to provide more pictures or references or answer any questions. Will gladly work out shipping and payment method with buyer. Thanks for looking, and to Jeff/CT for the space.
