Up for grabs is a 14k rose gold waterproof Kelbert Chronograph from the 1950's. This is a very high grade chronograph from the period and is one of the best condition examples I have ever seen. These Kelbert chronographs are uncommon and are rarely seen in this condition. 17 jewel Valjoux 72 movement is in excellent working condition and sports a very fine finish on all of the steel components. In my opinion the best version of this movement with overcoil hairspring, shock protection, and finely grained and beveled chronograph components.
I personally serviced this watch last year and have worn it only a handful of times since. Watch has a new mainspring and the flat polishing on all of the movement screws was touched up during service. Chronograph operates very smoothly and all functions work properly. Watch keeps very good time. Watch case is waterproof style but is not water resistant.
Large waterproof gold case is in excellent condition with heavy dark patina on right side of case. Case measures 36.3 mm without crown and 44 mm lug to lug. Before I purchased this watch I believe that someone rubbed the patina off the left side of the case with a polishing cloth. Gold hallmark is strong and visible on the left side of the case showing that it was not aggressively polished. Case has fine scratches all over and one more prominent scratch on case back from mishandling during opening.
The dial on this watch is in fantastic condition. The lacquer is very glossy and shows no signs of moisture damage. Raised printing is in excellent condition. This is one of the rarer dial variants with flat polished solid pink gold arabic hour markers. Hands are solid pink gold as well. Central chronograph second hand has some gouges at the very center from mishandling in the past. I debated replacing the hand pipe while servicing and flat polishing the hand hub but decided to leave it as is as this is a very minor flaw. There are two very small marks on the dial, one scratch in the lacquer next to "Antimagnetic" and one very small dot to the bottom left of "Kelbert". These minor flaws are barely visible.
Pushers and crown are original, crystal is a replacement.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to own a very rare and fine vintage dress chronograph.
