FS: Rolex Datejust 16220 cream Roman dial B&P €6500

This is a rare opportunity to buy a 1999 Rolex Datejust with creamy patina dial! You can find this kind of creamy patina on the Rolex Explorer II watches, but I haven’t seen before other kind of examples of a creamy turned Datejust.

The Datejust has set the bar for luxury watches since 1945, when this Rolex© marvel became the archetype for the modern watch. Inspired for and by the ocean, the Datejust’s revolution was a fully waterproof, automatic chronometer framing a date in the window--the first of its kind the world ever knew. This Datejust’s elegant design features a dazzling dial, and the scratch-resistant crystal’s cyclops eye makes it one of the world’s most recognizable watches. The Oyster architecture constitutes a 36mm case and bracelet while an seals the timepiece’s dignified look.

The Rolex Datejust adds performance to style, as it can display the date instantaneously with rapid setting, and has earned the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute’s official certification for high-precision. The Datejust’s screw-down winding crown utilizes Rolex’s Twinlock double waterproofness system, providing waterproof protection up to 100 meters. Its innovative hairspring offers maximum resistance against shocks, temperature variations, and magnetic fields. This Rolex© is entrenched as an iconic classic, featured on the wrists of many world leaders in every industry. Purchasing the Datejust will give you that same classic look, with smooth feel and function to boot.

There is a screw down Twinlock double waterproof winding crown, and a solid screw down case back. The 36mm diameter solid three-body case, curved lugs, and scalloped bezel, are polished/brushed. The dial is silver with applied Roman numeral hour markers, around a railroad-style perimeter minute/second track. It includes polished steel baton hands with luminous inserts, and a central sweep seconds hand. There is an instantaneous rapid setting date aperture window underneath a Cyclops magnifying lens at 3 o'clock. It has a Certified Official Superlative Chronometer (COSC) rating, and it's water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet. The 12mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

This Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust 16220 has a mechanical automatic self-winding Rolex caliber 3135 movement that's rhodium-plated with oeil-de-perdrix embellishment. It has bidirectional self-winding by the perpetual rotor. It has a monobloc middle case, and it's constructed with 31 jewels, and a shock absorber mechanism. It includes a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance that's adjusted to heat, cold, and 5 positions, and a self-compensating free-sprung Breguet balance spring. It has Microstella regulating screws, a hacking seconds mechanism for precision time setting, and the oscillator has a paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring.

This example is in excellent pre-owned condition and has a 904L stainless steel 36mm size case with a chronometer rated automatic movement.

Originally this was a gentleman’s Rolex Datejust (16220) featuring a white Roman numeral dial with a scratch resistant sapphire crystal and an external cyclops date aperture at 3 O'clock. The watch case is surrounded by a stainless steel engine turned bezel. It has an integral stainless steel Jubilee bracelet with a double deployment clasp. This particular watch comes complete with its original box and all relevant paperwork being originally supplied to a jeweler in Greece as new on 27th December 1999.

This particular watch has just undergone a full service and refurbishment to both case and bracelet. This work was carried out by our Rolex authorised watchmaker using Rolex parts.

As with all of our pre-owned watches at WRIST ICONS this watch comes with a full 12 month warranty with ourselves that will be invoked from the day of purchase.
