Tiffany's Trademark Suit Against eBay Holds Big Implications
Tiffany and Co. is suing eBay in federal court in New York, accusing the online auction house of trademark infringement by facilitating and promoting the sale of tens of thousands of pieces of counterfeit Tiffany jewelry, resulting in the erosion of the reputation of the 150-year-old Tiffany brand. The outcome of the case -- if tried to a conclusion -- will have major implications for eBay and the owners of well-known brands.
