Since that watch is clearly stated as being from the 1980s, is is clearly NOT a "current or recent model." Applying such information clearly outside its stated context is sloppy thinking and will cause you to reach such severely incorrect conclusions.
This is not something that you can immediately be an expert simply for knowing one or two factoids.
Also, keep in mind that many of the signs to look for on fakes are model or time-period specific -- especially when you try to apply them to the thousands of different models a company has made over many decades. How they did something in the 1990s may well be the opposite of how they did it in the 1980s or any other decade. Similarly, how OMEGA labels some models differs from how they label others.
