: Unfortunately, I'm a chronograph collector
: [Omega and Heuer and similar brands mainly]
: and I have no experience with Cartier
: whatsoever and I've heard they are
: especially nasty if someone shows up to seek
: if a Cartier is genuine and it's not
: "I've heard they will take a hammer and
: smash it in front of the customer even!
: So I don't really know whom within the Cartier
: sphere to seek help with your issue.
: That doesn't bode well. I wish I knew more so I
: could help you. You might want to try the
: public forum over at TimeZone.com. Perhaps
: someone there will have ideas.

There are 2 ways you can find out if your watch is genuine without taking it to a watchsmith. The first way is to contact me and I will give you the link to a replica watch forum. At the forum, you can post pictures of the watch. There are dozens of experts who can look at the watch and tell you if its real or fake.
The second way is to open the back of the watch and post photos of the movement on the replica watch forum link I can give you. When we see what kind of movement is in your watch....we will instantly know if it is real or not.
Your watch will not fail to operate if you open it. Whoever told you that is ridiculous. Also, you dont have to worry about someone smashing your watch with a hammer. That is just an old replica rumor. You need to tell the jeweler that you dont know if its real or not. He will charge you to have it opened.
