Many thanks for your help. I have just had a response back from Omega too confirming that the serial number is an authentic one and they have provided me with the model number and the calibre.
I find this forum extremely informative and I have learnt so much about the Omega watches at this site. In fact I think it would be good for Omega to put a link on their site.
