A forum for identifying and avoiding wholly or partially non-authentic wristwatches --
including counterfeit, replica, Frankenwatches and other fake or bastardized pieces.
Our objective here is to DISCOURAGE the sales and purchase of counterfeit
wristwatch and jewelry products. It is also for helping people identify
watches that are mostly authentic, but have been: altered for personal customization,
repaired with inappropriate parts or modified to be passed off as more valuable pieces.
Including a photo of the piece you are talking about ALWAYS helps! You can learn how to post a photo here: How To Include Photos In Your Postings. 'For sale' postings, commercial solicitation and ads are not allowed. Links to Internet auctions are acceptable only if their purpose is to question the authenticity of a product or provide new clues for identifying counterfeit products. Links that appear to be 'shills' promoting the sale of counterfeit products will be deleted. Links to websites of sellers of counterfeit items are not permitted -- we know they are out there and do not need to be encouraging them by sending traffic to their sites. Just wondering if anyone here knows where I can look for information about older Tag formula 1 watches. I ask because I LOVE my older F1(about 12 years old). I needed a gift for the Son of a friends Bar Mitzvah. He likes my watch so I thought to find one like new at ebay. I bought 2, one unworn & one like new. The one like new has a slightly recessed crystal. I think it is a replacement but do not know how to prove it. Official Tag site shows no authorized dealers near me. Not sure what to do? The new watch is really nice, but the band is slightly different that my old watch. It looks & works well so I attribute the small changes as Tag's improvements. The new one is the gift, I plan to wear the other but fear the crystal is an imitation and might leak or be scratched easily. I can send a picture if someone thinks they can look at it & tell. Is there a way to test for a crystal being mineral? Help!!! lol
