Our objective here is to DISCOURAGE the sales and purchase of counterfeit
wristwatch and jewelry products. It is also for helping people identify
watches that are mostly authentic, but have been: altered for personal customization,
repaired with inappropriate parts or modified to be passed off as more valuable pieces.
Including a photo of the piece you are talking about ALWAYS helps! You can learn how to post a photo here: How To Include Photos In Your Postings. 'For sale' postings, commercial solicitation and ads are not allowed. Links to Internet auctions are acceptable only if their purpose is to question the authenticity of a product or provide new clues for identifying counterfeit products. Links that appear to be 'shills' promoting the sale of counterfeit products will be deleted. Links to websites of sellers of counterfeit items are not permitted -- we know they are out there and do not need to be encouraging them by sending traffic to their sites. Hi All!
Well after months of searching and "cold feet" (I've heard many vintage watch horror stories), I finally pulled the trigger on a watch I've really been wanting - a vintage Omega Seamaster (see link below). Per much advise, I decided to purchase this watch due to the fact the seller provided decent pictures and the following detailed info (plus the BIN priced seemed really good):
1971 Omega Seamaster - 24 Jewels - Movement Serial Number 30705919 - Calibre 565 - Case Reference Number 166.067
I scrambled over to Omega's site and the calibre checked out ... only thing that is bugging me is that I cannot find informatio on the reference number - so now I'm a bit uneasy.
Was hoping someone could give me some insight to the validity of this watch and/or if I made a rookie move by over paying. Thank you!
