Counterfeit Watchers Discussion Forum

A forum for identifying and avoiding wholly or partially non-authentic wristwatches -- including counterfeit, replica, Frankenwatches and other fake or bastardized pieces. Our objective here is to DISCOURAGE the sales and purchase of counterfeit wristwatch and jewelry products. It is also for helping people identify watches that are mostly authentic, but have been: altered for personal customization, repaired with inappropriate parts or modified to be passed off as more valuable pieces.

Including a photo of the piece you are talking about ALWAYS helps! You can learn how to post a photo here: How To Include Photos In Your Postings. 'For sale' postings, commercial solicitation and ads are not allowed. Links to Internet auctions are acceptable only if their purpose is to question the authenticity of a product or provide new clues for identifying counterfeit products. Links that appear to be 'shills' promoting the sale of counterfeit products will be deleted. Links to websites of sellers of counterfeit items are not permitted -- we know they are out there and do not need to be encouraging them by sending traffic to their sites. Privacy, additional policies and administrivia are covered in the Terms of Use.

fake omega de ville from around 1975?

Opened a newly received watch because I noticed some difference at the outside
the movement looks exactly like the automatic 684 including this number but no serial number.
the case has a number: reference for the case 155006 (which is comparable to 155007 which has somewhat other lugs)
but no case serial number.
What should I make of this?
the glass is a bit strange and the band is also somewhat "raw" has a number 1155/148 which is same format as other band numbers.

I am wondering if this watch is a good fake. does anyone know if there are such good imitations of the 684 movement?
visual strange things:
glass is not flat but shows distortion
case has more room between the connecting lugs.
band is somewhat course and less refined, no part to be removed.
all over the watch has omega on it but strange no numbers
below a link to a good watch from a unsuspected source and serves as comparison only, but that has case reference 155007
Am i had again? I had one returned recently, one good buy and not this one.
what amazes me it that people will imitate the movement so far it says omega and 684 but no serial number. i looked very thorough where the other example give a number and nothing anywhere.
any help appreciated. (AND i realize that ebay has problems indeed)
thanks
Willem
